Many public libraries support early literacy by publishing lists of recommended books on their Websites. Below are some links to lists of good books for reading aloud in Mother Goose on the Loose programs.

Idaho’s Read to Me Program produces “The Bookworm” newsletter which includes suggested read-aloud books, rhymes, and activities. This can be reproduced as a hand-out for parents.

Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy links books with early literacy skills.

Hennepin County Library lists ideal books for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

The West Bloomfield Township Public Library suggests books for children of all ages. This link leads to books for babies, but explore the website for good books to use with older children.

Multnomah County Library has assorted lists according to subject or age.

The Johnson County Library lists books and activities on a theme.
