Learning to Talk Each Other’s Language: Children’s Librarians and Child Care Providers (1.5 hours)
Children’s librarians are likely familiar with Every Child Ready to Read, but not as well-versed with The Basics, a growing movement across the country.
To work with childcare providers and other early literacy professionals, librarians need to be aware of the common messages promoted by both movements, as well as how they differ.
This training:
1) provides an overview of Every Child Ready to Read & the Boston Basics (and its derivatives)
2) discusses the differences between the two
3) and explores useful resources librarians can create for childcare providers to strengthen ECRR practices through the lens of The Basics.
