The most recent issue of Children and LIbraries magazine contains an article entitled “Repeat After Me: Repetition and Early Literacy Development.” Describing a Preschool Services Discussion group that took place at the 2012 annual ALA Conference in Anaheim, CA, the article talks about the value of repetition and presents a wide variety of ways that the same book can be used in preschool storytime. Written by Tess Prendergast, Christy Estrovitz, and I, the article supports repetition as a basis for learning, which is also the basic theory behind Transforming Preschool Storytime. Although the article was written shortly after the 2012 conference, it is a cool coincidence that it hit the newsstands just a short while after Transforming Preschool Storytime was published.
